Memory Paintings
Little paintings with big memories.
It started with a tiny canvas and a childhood memory…
For this series, I began painting the objects, animals and little things that take me straight back to a particular time or place. I didn’t want to paint them exactly as they were, but as symbols to represent them. The paintings themselves might seem ordinary, but to me each one holds a very personal memory or story.
There's something lovely about the way a simple object can unlock a memory you haven't thought about for years. A favourite pet, something you wore, a game you played or a moment that would have seemed completely unimportant at the time can somehow stay with you for decades.
I’m fascinated by this and try to make mini memories in my every day life for myself and my family.
Each painting is very small at just 10 x 10cm, painted individually in acrylic and filled with colour, nostalgia and a little piece of my own history. While painting these, I found myself remembering the people, places and stories behind each one, so there's truly a little piece of my heart in every canvas.
Below you can explore the collection and discover the memory behind each painting.
